First Annual Bacon Fest: Good Time, Great Cause
Who has ever had a hankering for bacon? We know we have…but there was no shortage of the “meat-candy” or cold beverages at the first annual Beer & Bacon Fest that drew a crowd at the new Armada Bar in Old City on Saturday, July 26th, 2014. The event presented by Grayson Hyundai & Grayson Subaru was the signature event for the Junior Achievement Associate Board with all ticket sales going to support teaching area youth about the economics for success – staying in school, finding a career path, and managing their finances. Appropriately, the tagline for the event was “Inspiring kids to bring home the bacon since 1969!”
There are other bacon festivals across the country, of course, but when you add Beer & Bacon together you get a Fest like no other. The attendees embraced the quirky event filled with unique bacon-themed cuisine, a variety of beer selections, and live music.
The event featured Southern inspired heavy hors d’oeuvres including Calhoun’s BBQ on biscuits, Ole Smoky Moonshine Sausage, piles of bacon, Armada’s Signature Bacon & Pepper Infused Bloody Mary, along with Magpies’ Bacon & Chocolate Chip Cookies and Maple Bacon Donuts from Scrumps.
The combination of the amazing array of popular restaurants making some very unique and delicious bacon dishes, as well as the vast selection of craft beers and a beautiful weather day brought out people looking for fun.

Beer & Bacon Fest is the Junior Achievement Associate Board’s Signature Event – this event will include several types of beer (including some craft beers) and a variety of bacon themed or bacon inspired foods for your tasting pleasure. Guests will enjoy a souvenir glass, live music, a photo booth, silent auction, and other event activities. 100% of sponsorships & ticket sales will go toward Junior Achievement programs…
