If you’ve ever wondered how much a volunteer is worth, wait no more because the Independent Sector’s latest annual calculation of the value of volunteers’ time is out!
According to the Corporation for National and Community Service’s 2012 report on volunteering, 64.3 million Americans donated 7.9 billion hours of volunteer time in 2011. In dollar signs, their time was worth more than $171 billion! We are so grateful for the dedication from our volunteers. Because of your support, we are able to empower students in East Tennessee to succeed. Read more for a breakdown of the value of a volunteer hour by state.
In Tennessee the value of a volunteer hour is $20.13 – last year volunteers dedicated their time, talents, and energy to making a different through JA and helped us reach over 15,600 students in 692 classes with more than 200,000 contact hours! That is $4,026,000 worth of time!!!
While that is a great figure we know that our classroom volunteers, parents who volunteer in BizTown and our Board members are worth way more than that – our volunteers are simply JAET’s biggest ASSET. Thank you to those who volunteered last year and we hope you will help us reach even more students this year!
